This resort boasts one of the most enchanting infinity pools I’ve ever seen and lush gardens alive with captivating local wildlife. Monkeys swinging from the trees, curious raccoons, and vibrant, colorful birds all call this place home.
Dreams Las Mareas was my first beach destination in Costa Rica after exploring the capital, San Jose Costa Rica. From the moment I arrived I felt like I was in paradise. Stepping into my spacious suite, I was enchanted by its beauty and size. I found the room decorated with flowers and a bottle of champagne welcoming me. Talk about a great first impression!
The beachfront suite I called home was situated amidst sprawling tropical gardens and offered a semi-private pool just steps from my bedroom – a true luxury. Those on upper floors even have their private outdoor hot tub on the balcony. The modern décor and thoughtful touches, like floral arrangements on the bed and a table adorned with fresh fruit, pastries, and wine, made my stay feel extraordinary.
World Class Dining With Tropical Views
Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica boasts an array of gourmet specialty restaurants where reservations are never necessary. I had the pleasure of dining at five a la carte restaurants, a buffet, a grill, and a café. For lunch, Oceana and Seaside Grill were my favorites, both offering picturesque poolside dining with seafood and delectable steaks.
In the afternoons, I couldn’t resist a stop at Coco Café for a refreshing gelato. Dinner was a culinary delight at Portofino, where elegant decor and Italian cuisine took center stage. Breakfast at the World Café was always a varied and delicious affair, offering everything from omelets to traditional Costa Rican dishes and tropical fruit.
Relaxation Reimagined
The art of relaxation is mastered at Dreams Las Mareas, extending beyond poolside lounging with a good book or sipping cocktails while watching mesmerizing sunsets on the beach. The infinity pool, offering a breathtaking view of the beach, became one of my favorite spots. I often enjoyed a cocktail from the Manatees bar, conveniently located at the poolside.
Spa Sanctuary
For those seeking pampering and indulgence, the Dreams Spa by Pevonia awaits. It offers a wide array of treatments, from massages and wraps to luxurious manicures and pedicures. The spa also features beautiful pools, a hydrotherapy garden, and other amenities. I was pleasantly surprised to discover spa packages designed for children, including strawberry facials and chocolate wraps, making it an ideal mother-daughter bonding experience.

Dreams Las Mareas ensures that every day is an adventure. From ocean kayaking and water aerobics to the exhilarating Cascada waterslide, there are endless activities to enjoy. I joined a fun group of fellow guests for beach volleyball, danced to the rhythm during water aerobics, and enjoyed outdoor movie nights under the stars. Spanish lessons, dance classes, and even cooking and cocktail-making sessions were available.
Families with kids will appreciate the Explorer’s Club, offering kid-centered activities, while teenagers can hang out at the Core Zone, with daily activities, games, sports, and nightly entertainment.
